PREVALENCE AND RISK FACTORS OF TINEA PEDIS WITH ONYCHOMYCOSIS IN THE CITIZENS OF DUSHANBE

Aim. To study the prevalence and risk factors of tinea pedis with onychomycosis in Dushanbe according to data from the Dushanbe Centre for skin diseases and STIs.

Materials and methods. For 5 years (2009-2013) 1242 Dushanbecitizens(men — 700, women — 542) haveconsultedthe Dushanbe Centre for skin diseases and STIs. Averageage: 40,3±1,4. Social status: whiteandbluecollars, servicemen, sportsmen, pensioners, housewives, temporarilyunemployed, students. Methods: clinical, statistical, microsopical (detection of fungal mycelium).

Results. Menhadtinea pedismoreoftenthan women, ratio 1,3:1. Onychomycosis found in 11,4% of the patients with tinea pedis, and men affected twice more often at that. Tinea pedis seen most frequently in sportsmen and pensioners, least in housewives and students. The prevalence of tinea pedis has been 0,26% in Dushanbe for the last 5 years. The highest incidence established in sportsmen (0,45%) and pensioners (0,38%), the lowest — in housewives (0,15%).

Various angiopathies were ariskfactoroftinea pedis in 24,5% ofpatients, flat-footednessin 22,5%, obesity in 16,5%, diabetes in 14,7%.

Conclusion. According to data for the last 5 years in Dushanbe tine a pedis with onychomycosis has been seen most frequently in sportsmen and pensioners, least in housewives. Risk factors were angiopathies, flat-footedness, obesity and diabetes.
