Aim. To determine mechanism deviation of nasal septum.
Materials and methods. A study of patients with a septal deviation, followed by surgical intervention in 1849 patients (519 women and 1330 men) for four years, who were hospitalized in the ENT department of the NMC RT.
Results. According to the existing four main theories of this pathology for each of them characterized by a certain type of septal deviation. On this basis, the authors during septoplasty reflect the type of curvature, making it possible to select the tactics of surgical intervention and avoid possible complications.
